Templars Academy - Witham, Essex
Continuing DSD’s close relationship with Inspires MAT, we recently had the pleasure of working on the new logo and branding of Templars Academy in Witham. Headteacher, Victoria Gooding was keen to build the heritage of the Templars name which is inspired by the Knights Templar order and its history in the Witham area, with Cressing Temple being amongst their very earliest settlements in England.
With this in mind the design depicts an intwined sword and shield with the sword guard and blade subtly forming the letter ’T’ for Templars. Equally subtle highlights to either side of the shield and the center of the sword provide detail without over complicating the design.
A strong and highly legible typeface is used for the main word mark whilst reflecting the style of the motif itself too, with the ‘Academy’ text matching the layout of the main Inspires MAT branding providing a subtle link to the trust.
