How many resolutions have you kept so far this New Year…

Most of us have rapidly weakened in the past and some of us may have resolved to make none at all! In this post our guest author, David Kightley, considers which of those resolutions are really worth keeping in 2023.

The origin of making New Year’s resolutions is thought to have rested some 4,000 years ago with the Babylonians, who reportedly made promises to the gods in the hope they’d earn good favour in the coming year.  Although the Bible says nothing about making New Year’s resolutions, it does give us wise advice about making our lists. In 1740, the Englishman who founded the Methodist movement, John Wesley (along with his brother Charles), began a New Year’s Eve service at the church called the Covenant Renewal Service that featured self-examination, reflection and spiritual renewal.

Hang on to Life’s Guilty Pleasures

Nowadays, most of the usual ones involve either shedding those extra Christmas pounds or kilos, quitting smoking, taking more exercise or cutting back on alcohol even to the point of going dry to the end of January or beyond!  Failing those and probably more, the really smart option is to choose a resolution that is both really worth keeping and easily doable without having to cut back on life’s guilty pleasures!

Look instead at your business image

How many of you reading this post can look closely at the logo element of your business or organisation’s brand and come to the conclusion that your business image no longer inspires you or that over the years since its creation your market focus has changed due to market forces or demands from an unexpected or new market sector. It’s a familiar realisation for many of us and even graphic design agencies are no exception. Move with the times as they say!

Choose a resolution you can easily keep

If this scenario resonates with you or you’ve been promising to do something about it then why not do it right now. Maybe it’s timely to contact a leading Essex-based graphic designer who will resolutely focus on creating or refreshing your company’s identity and in doing so inspire you to love and live a desirable, effective and totally ‘current’ brand. It’s a resolution you can easily keep!

It only takes five minutes to begin the task of what should be an enjoyable and rewarding process. Pick up the phone and call DSD’s founder and experienced graphic designer Dan Summers right this minute on 01245 890238 or say hello to Dan through his website contact page.
